Tanga Wekwa Sando Biography Ernest Tanga Kambadzo Sando, the township jazz master, cut his teeth playing in numerous bands, including the Harare Mambo Band, before striking out on his own. He released his first solo album, Wake, in 2000 under the moniker Tanga Wekwa Sando. Wake was a critical success - a beacon of jazzy melodies amid a sea of sungura music - and was widely hailed by critics as a success, producing hits such as Wake, Nyenyedzi, and Buhera. He followed with 2002's Shungu. Tanga Wekwa Sando plays live shows with Dumi Ngulube and his band the Amagents. They performed alongside Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso as the 2001 Tsama Music Awards. Ernest also operates his own jazz label, Tega Tega Music.
