New Black Montana New Black Montana are a jit band which conquered the domestic circuit but never really made it outside of Zimbabwe. Emerging in the late 1980s the group played a fast-paced jit, similar to the Bhundus Boys. The boys hit their stride in the 1990s, but seemed to have petered-out from there. Little information is available on the group. If you know of anything, please let me know. New Black Montana appear on the Viva Zimbabwe compilation, with their song Magumede.
Released: 1988 I managed to get my hands on this rare New Black Montana album through eBay. However, little information (including serial number, date of recording, or date of issue) was available. However, Ronnie Graham's The World of African Music came to the rescue. The band has a good jit sound, although their fast-paced music can sound a bit generic by the middle of the second side.
